The Ladies That Help Make It All HappenNovember 11th, 2009 at 6:41
We had our meeting with the Ministry of Education on Tuesday. It went great. They loved our photo album, especially the pictures of us with Shayla in her tiger suit. This is the last step before our court date next Monday. We don’t expect any problems, and so far everything has been a very smooth process. Tamara, our coordinator, purchased our plane tickets to Almaty and we are scheduled to depart Karaganda next Wednesday. Thursday we will have a meeting with the US consulate to finalize our adoption paper work and give Power of Attorney to Shayla’s escort. We will know after court on Monday who the actual escort will be. We will be excited to return home; we miss our cats and all the comforts of our own home, but it will be sad to leave Shayla behind.
We have posted a very important photo of all the ladies here in Karaganda, who made this adoption of Shayla possible. And yes, we assumed everyone was wondering… we would like to do this again someday and made sure all the “ladies” know this. They told us we make wonderful parents and would like to help us anyway they can. They even asked how soon we would like to come back!
Rosa is the director of the baby house. She knows all the children and when they will be available from the Kazakhstan state adoption registry. Tamara is our coordinator. She makes all the arrangements and handles the paperwork. She coordinates directly with Rosa. And finally, there is our translator Natasha. She accompanies us to all the important meetings, takes us to the grocery store, answers all our stupid American questions and passes on all the information from Tamara. We are very grateful to all these women for helping us to start our family.
